Since 1987 there has been talk about a possible magnetic levitation train being built in the Orlando area, and it looks like a privately funded venture is starting to get some additional wind in it’s sails. We’ve heard rumors that American Maglev, the developer, has possibly been out getting the rights of way for a track. They were approved to do so in May of 2014 by the Florida Department of Transportation. The company also has put forth it’s first phase timeline, which would have trains in service as early as next year between Orlando Airport (OIA/MCO) and the International Drive convention center. On their twitter page, the company also mentions they may have plans to bring the train to Lake Nona Medical City eventually, as well as to connect to Walt Disney World.
