If diagrams available on developer Blackfin Partner’s website hold true (see image below), then the area in Lake Nona off of Narcoossee Road south of 417 where there now is a Starbucks, Wendy’s and ABC Liquors is going to get a lot bigger with some big name box stores en route. Rumors of a Walmart and a “Waterford Lakes” size shopping center have been mentioned recently in various publications. While the Walmart seems to be a foregone conclusion, doesn’t look like it’s quite the size of the Waterford center, at least yet.
The diagram shows that a Lowes Home Improvement Store, Walmart, TJ Maxx, Petsmart and Sam’s Club are in the plans. It also shows a Sports Authority but there is a rumor they are filing bankruptcy and may be a closing up to half of their stores, so not sure how reliable that may be. From a food standpoint, Dunkin’ Donuts, Chipotle and Pollo Tropical appear to also be on the horizon.
The document containing this information is actually to promote the retail space Blackfin is developing just south of Lake Nona High School, where they are planning to bring in a specialty grocery store (thinking a Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s or Fresh Market type place) and apparently a few more fast-food restaurants.
This data could certainly be outdated and have changed, but it’s been pretty reliable so far. Who knows when we may start seeing these new additions.
